"My Picture of Health series is inspired by the often uncomfortable, fascinating, view of parts of the human body when seen through a microscope
Revealed is a visible life-force full of energy and tension, offset by the knowledge that everything seen is fragile, vulnerable and precarious
To convey the attractive and yet repellent nature of the subject matter there are a pair of canvases, each 1800mm x 300mm, one an indigo blue and the other a visceral red
The works are painted without tools using only controlled hand-pressure to directly transfer my physical energy onto the canvas"
